چکیده

This paper presents a performance model for predicting average message latency under uniformly distributed traffic in a hypercube based network-on-chip (NoC). Unlike previous works, the model obtains service rate for incoming traffic at a particular channel of a node by calculating reverse service rate provided by downstream nodes, and has simple closed-form calculation to produce accurate analytic results when the system is operating in stable state. The validity of the proposed model is shown by comparing results calculated out by the model with results obtained through simulations with different network configurations and traffic loads.

Reliability and Performance Evaluation of Fault-aware Routing Methods for Network-on-Chip Architectures (RESEARCH NOTE)

Nowadays, faults and failures are increasing especially in complex systems such as Network-on-Chip (NoC) based Systems-on-a-Chip due to the increasing susceptibility and decreasing feature sizes. On the other hand, fault-tolerant routing algorithms have an evident effect on tolerating permanent faults and improving the reliability of a Network-on-Chip based system. This paper presents reliabili...

An Analytical Model for Hypercube Network-On-Chip Systems with Wormhole Switching and Fully Adaptive Routing

In this paper, we present a novel performance analysis model for predicting average message latency of hypercube network-on-chip (NoC) systems that employ wormhole switching and fully adaptive routing method with uniformly distributed traffic. Unlike previous works, our model calculates the service rate that is provided by a physical link for the incoming traffic at a particular communicating n...

Non-Blocking Routers Design Based on West First Routing Algorithm & MZI Switches for Photonic NoC

For the first time, the 4- and 5-port optical routers are designed by using the West First routing algorithm for use in optical network on chip. The use of the WF algorithm has made the designed routers to provide non-blocking routing in photonic network on chip. These routers not only are based on high speed Mach-Zehnder switches(Which have a higher bandwidth and more thermal tolerance than mi...

Congestion estimation of router input ports in Network-on-Chip for efficient virtual allocation

Effective and congestion-aware routing is vital to the performance of network-on-chip. The efficient routing algorithm undoubtedly relies on the considered selection strategy. If the routing function returns a number of more than one permissible output ports, a selection function is exploited to choose the best output port to reduce packets latency. In this paper, we introduce a new selection s...

Performance Evaluation of Network-on-Chip Routing Deterministic and Adaptive Algorithms

Network on Chip (NoC) has been proposed as a good solution to achieve better performance and higher efficiency in today's complex systems on chip. Routing in the NoC is a most important challenge. Final performance of NoC largely depends on the underlying routing scheme. In this paper we evaluate three most efficient routing algorithm namely XY, odd-even and DyAD in 2Dmesh network by different ...
